A vast deciduous forest known as the Candlewoods lies to the north of the
eastern edge of the dark forest east.  The vegetation here is dense and
its canopy denser.  Unusually large mosquitos and slippery badgers have
been known the harry the unprepared adventurer.  Merchants who have
traveled the forest extensively all report strange yet indefinite sights
within the forest... particularly at night.

It is also known that there was a human expedition into the forest for the
purposes of creating a new settlement.  All contact with that group has
been lost for some time now...  Mayhaps they ran into unfriendly
indigenes.
