Long ago, a cataclysm known as "Skyfall" precipitated the end of the
giant-ruled nations that once spanned the southern mainland. The details of
Skyfall have been lost to history, as giantkind descended into savagery.
Only oral traditions persist, making vague references to the fury of the
stars and strange beings riding down upon bolts of lightning to wreak havoc
on the world...

Whatever Skyfall was, the arts that brought it about were lost to the
disaster.  Perhaps the knowledge can be found buried in one of the ruins
the Giant Pyramid Builders left behind.
