The Firbolgs lay claim to a wide swath of land at the edge of Hill Giant
territory, and for years have been engaged in a sporadic land war with the
Hill Giants as a result. The boundaries between the lands change almost on a
daily basis, with the disorganized hill giants occasionally winning a piece
of land despite the well organized defenses of the Firbolgs.  But the
Firbolgs are too few in number to wage an effective offensive, and so the
skirmishes drag onward while neither side makes any real progress.

Being far more intelligent than the nearby hill giants, the Firbolgs
usually avoid contact with outsiders. Whenever approached, they melt
into the forest, disappearing from view, using their cleverly made
clothing to camouflage their presence. They would make cunning foes,
and better allies, if only you could befriend them.
