I have sometimes noticed that it is hard to run some gear at newbie levels.
However, since I have diligently tried sometime to run particular pieces to
see the results of randoming with a lower level character I hav noticed
some things. Many times I have noticed that it is not the chance of an item
randoming that is such a problem as it is the fact that an item loads so
irregularly that is the issue. Even though I sometimes know where something
has loaded, I may sometimes forget where something loads until I am there
Many times some special items won't load at all on a mob that you have
encoutered. This can confuse some to think that nothing (or nothing else)
loads on a particular mob. I don't believe that it is the item's chance of
randoming that is a problem, but the item's chance of loading which is the
issue. I hate to say it, but sometimes people get unlucky and an item can
random several times without getting the result they desire. If someone
really, really wants an item, then that person will find a way to obtain
it. Sometimes dumb luck sucks, but sometimes you do actually get a decent
random out of it. Generally, the only thing that I see that is a problem is
that people are unable to know where am item loads because the item loads
so infrequently. It would be really nice if there could be some sort of
placeholder item, which loaded with the same stats, that loaded when the
actual item did not, and had a limited lifespan (even if it lasted only as
long as the corpse). Yes, sometimes people have trouble getting the
nonrandomized item of deisre. However, there are are other times when
people are able to get the non-randomized items so easily that they don't
even think about how easy it actually was. I like good equipment as much as
the next player. I don't want to break that which is not already broken.
