shuck <marine bivalve>

Certain marine bivalves can be shucked of their shells, yielding
mother-of-pearl, and, much more rarely, pearls of various color and
quality.

When you prepare bivalves to be cooked, you will automatically shuck
them. You can also shuck them manually, which does not save the meat.
