The mage illusion spells have a handful of uses, from invisibility to
creating lights and distracting enemies.  Color spray and its derivatives
are somewhat more powerful, as the light is strong enough and cast with
enough mana to become damaging in its own right.

Long duration illusions can be easily penetrated, and, save for the
displacement spell, are generally obscure.
