These combat skills are used by thieves and assassins to slay enemies,
often using trickery. It has two main branches - one that relies on
stealth, while the other requires the target to perceive the attack.

Early in their careers, thieves use these skills to mug and waylay
opponents. More skilled thieves often hang back from melee to employ
shadow magic and ranged weapons, or use stealth, flattery and even
outright bribery to avoid fighting altogether. A few thieves learn
more advanced techniques that allow them to cripple foes and harry
combatants in concert with groups.

These skills work well with poisoned weapons, as they more effectively
transfer poison to opponents than other kinds of attacks.
