This page details a function that no longer exists.  It is preserved for
historical reasons only.

Format:
bribe <character> <action> [optional gold amount]

When permanent player killing was allowed, players could bribe to change
karma levels.  Smearing raised a player's PPK karma, while pardoning
reduced it.

Action:
pardon                  : pardons ppk karma on self
pardon <player name>    : pardons ppk karma on someone else
smear  <player name>    : smear campaign, increases ppk karma

By using the 'pardon' or 'smear' modes, you can bribe various characters to
change their opinion of someone and spread their opinion around the realm.
'pardon' is used to get rid of bad public opinion, perhaps regarding an
accidental murder or newbie slaying.  'smear' is used to spread bad rumors
about someone, as in the typical political smear campaign.
