Ships can sail upon open ocean, deep lakes and even up rivers that don't have
a steep grade. Ships must be actively directed by the crew to sail - the
further a ship moves without any stops, the more tired and demoralized a
crew becomes. If a crew starts tiring, it is best to stop and let them
recover for a while, rather than running them until they are exhausted and
refuse to go any further.
Larger, slower ships are harder to sail, so the crew will demoralize faster.
It is also easier on the crew to sail through shallow coastal waters than in
open ocean. Certains types of sails increase the speed at which ships travel,
lessening the effort a crew has to put into sailing. These can be purchased
at ports that sell ship equipment.
Anchoring a ship will increase the rate at which a crew regains their morale.
Playing a tune on instrument is also said to boost the spirits of a crew,
though this can only go so far.
