This spell allows necromancers to sense nearby deaths and departing souls.
The spell notifies you when a creature in the same room is near death, or
when a creature in a nearby room dies.

On its own, the spell is commonly used for finding fresh corpses to use
for other purposes. It allows for the detection of hidden
or invisible ethereal creatures, and it can alert the subject to an
otherwise unseen spirit as it closes to make a stealthy attack. If a
creature is affected by the 'soulsteal' spell cast by a necromancer,
that necromancer can harvest the soul using 'dread portent' to guide him
without additional action on his part.
