An alloy is a mixture of a metal and other materials, usually a different
kind of metal. Alloys have different properties than their base metals.
They typically are harder, making better weapons and armor.

Current metallurgical techniques create alloys consisting of 4 parts
base metal, with 1 part an additional metal or other material. Some
have a third component. When identified, alloys will show a composition
of the base metal.

Common alloys include:

Brass           - 4 parts copper to 1 part zinc
Bronze          - 4 parts copper to 1 part tin
Sterling silver - 4 parts silver to 1 part copper
Pewter          - 4 parts tin, 1 part copper, 1 part lead
Steel           - 4 parts iron to 1 part carbon (such as coal)
Adamantine      - 4 parts adamantium, 1 part carbon, 1 part iron

Note: not all alloys are common knowledge. Certain rare metals and their
alloys may not be workable until you learn skills beyond basic metallurgy.
