There are four principle varieties of wetland terrain:
mire - peatlands, mostly moss with few trees or shrubs
marsh - wetlands dominated by reeds and shrubs, with scattered trees
swamp - essentially flooded forests. Very difficult to navigate
jungle - hot, humid wetland forests with exotic hardwoods
Wetlands tend to have fewer resources than woodlands, but more than
arid terrains. Jungles are an exception: Exotic hardwoods can
be gathered here and nowhere else, and they have some of the highest
yields of forage outside of cultivated fields and orchards, as well
as abundant herbs and mushrooms.
Curiously, ores of iron, manganese, tin and nickel can be recovered in
wetlands, though they tend to have low yields.
The druid 'mudwalker' skill will help you use less movement
when traveling through and gathering in wetlands other than jungles,
where 'forester' is more useful.
Fens are hilly, uneven mires, while bogs are mires on flat, wet plains.
