Stats are very powerful, and can have a wide range of effects on your
character.  There are six major stats, with major attributes as listed below:

Strength     - Used primarily for combat damage, wielding powerful
               weapons, and for carrying heavy loads. Also contributes to
               movement and hitpoints.

Intelligence - Required for mage, necromancer and druid spells, and for
               regaining mana. Spellcasters with high intelligence usually
               also have large amounts of mana.

Wisdom       - Required for cleric and druid spells, and for regaining mana.
               Spellcasters with high wisdom usually have large amounts of
               mana. Serves as a secondary stat for casting mage and
               necromancer spells.

Dexterity    - Helps you manage lots of items, use combat skills and ranged
               attacks, and avoid damage in combat.

Constitution - Helps you heal more quickly, and increases your hitpoints.
               Increases your resistance to poisons, stunning and diseases.
               Warriors usually have a high con, along with many hitpoints.

Charisma     - Required to cast cleric spells, prevents some monsters from
               attacking you, helps with charming and controlling opponents and
               can get you better prices in some shops.

You can raise your stats permanently with the 'train' command.

Natural stats are capped at player max level - 10.
