The druid class is primarily a caster, with modest hitpoints and decent
mana. They employ a number of spells and skills to wield the powers of
nature, as well as craft magical objects:
- air and sky spells that buffet foes and call down storms and lightning
on enemies
- plant-based abilities that harness the power of vegetation and fungi
- earthen magic to crush enemies with rocks or drown them in maelstroms
- animal handling to call animal minions and manage wild beasts
- storing and releasing light from the sun, moon and stars for various
attacks and summonings
- brewing tonics and salves from gathered herbs and mushrooms
Many druid spells are dependent on terrain. Air spells do not work
underwater, nor do most weather spells work without access to the sky.
Water spells do not work on land, and earth spells cannot be cast
underwater.
The primary stat for druids is wisdom, which is generally two points
higher than intelligence for druid spells. Charisma helps with some
druid animal handling skills.
Equipment effects that are most useful for druids are WISDOM,
INTELLIGENCE, MANA_REGEN, MANA and DRUID_CAST_LEVEL. CHARISMA increases
the odds of success with animal handling skills.
Druids are masters of runic carving, allowing them to enhance objects
made from wood, leather, stone, bone and crystal with runes. They can
also craft magically empowered totems, weapons, spellstaffs, fetishes
wickerware and lightcatchers.
Druids start with the 'gust' and 'thistles' spells and the 'plant
lore' skill.
