Title: a book titled 'The Masters of the Mirrors'

Mirrors have long been thought to be bridges into the Otherworld, the realm
of fairies, balanced precariously between the worlds of angels and demons.
Indeed, in many significant sites around the world, from Ralnoth to the
Blue Temple, mirrors are literal portals to distant points. The makers of
these mirrors is unknown, but it is believed they were forged by the gods
themselves. Legends speak of yet more powerful mirrors that form links
between the planes, leading to distant realms of dark and madness.

Indeed, whoever the masters of the mirrors were, they have left few clues
behind. They used magic clearly different from that of the Pyramid
Builders, who used brute, rune-covered constructs of stone to construct
portals and interconnected beacon stones. Indeed, most of them are too
small to have been useful to those ancient giants, nor by their rivals, the
dragons.

Thus, setting aside divine intervention, the most likely identity of the
mirror-makers are the Faeries. They have long shown an affinity for
mirrors, and their ties to the Otherworld are well-known in myth and
legend. Some speak of the Mirror of the Amber Lady, an Archfey that
frequented Dunnhurst. Likewise, many believe the fabled singing mirror of
Elaina was crafted by faeries. If they are works of aalfs, then they are
astonishingly old even for their handicraft, as no record of their making
survives.
