Title: a book about tirbanas

By Dame Takahari

Greetings, pilgrim. When Saint Mordin and his allies defeated the tirbana
infestation in Pellam over a century ago, there were actually a few still
active in the nearby forest. Hunters captured these specimens, and
scholars were able to study them. What was learned is that tirbanas are
highly magical beings whose anatomy is easily manipulated by magic. The
tirbanas here, for instance, have been modified to consume and lay their
eggs in human waste that is delivered from the nearby village.

There are five kinds of tirbanas. First are the eyewings, who resemble
dragonflies and are the least of them. They exist to serve the other
varieties. They are capable of flight and primarily stay above ground.
They can negate magical effects with a touch.

Next are the drowzers. They look like giant cockroaches. They are capable
of producing a droning sound with their wings that inflicts a mild curse on
listeners that makes them drowzy. They can fly, but not as well as
eyewings.

Tirbana slayers are the soldiers of the colony. They have large claw-like
appendages that they use for digging and fighting. Interestingly enough,
Saint Mordin and his party did not encounter any of these. It is believed
that the tirbana swarm that attacked Pellam came from a very faraway
island. Since slayers are poor fliers, scholars believe that none of the
slayers from the island survived the trip.

Vivisectors are elite guards that directly serve the leader of the tirbana
colony, called the spawner. Unlike other tirbanas, vivisectors and
spawners are bipedal. Vivisectors have the ability to turn invisible, and
spawners can cast displacement on themselves for defense. Spawners are the
only tirbanas capable of reproduction, which they do by collecting genetic
material from drowzers. A colony typically only has one spawner at a time.

All tirbanas deliver venom via their bites or through the stinger in the
vivisectors' case.'
