Name: derzo Proper name: Derzo Ground string: Derzo is here. Title: hmm Created: Mon Sep 20 23:34:06 2010 Description ----------------------------------------------------- Derzo is of average height and of skinny build, with blue eyes. His brown hair is very long and pulled back in a ponytail. His dark skin is freckled. His nose is short with flaring upturned nostrils. He has rounded, chubby cheeks and a thin-lipped mouth above a folded double chin. He has a scar running down his right cheek. He looks fairly young and fresh. ----------------------------------------------------------------- History --------------------------------------------------------- Derzo was born the seventh son to a loving peasant family. They lived on an isolated farm that not only provided food, but also much pipe weed. An ancient magical tree on the family land provided additional support by providing the family with staves of unusual magical properties which they sold each year when they journeyed to Ralnoth for the yearly market. When derzo was six, a raiding band of goblins came and burnt all the family land and their magical tree, leaving them with nothing. That winter, a storm struck, leaving derzo's parents and five of the seven children dead from exposure. His oldest sister, Sahra, took him and they left the farm, never to return. One night while sleeping in a cave, they got ambushed by some Duergar that were driven to the surface. Rather than killing the pair, they were transported underground to the undead city where they were sold into slavery Separated at the auction, Derzo was sold to a lich, who could have been a lot crueler than he was. He also could have been a lot more powerful for several months later he was vanquished by a young paladin. the paladin paid no attention to the lich's slaves, but left soon afterwords, leaving them to fend for themselves in the city of the dead. Two years later Derzo finally found his sister serving at an inn. She was thin and overworked, but still had, some would say, foolish hope. Infected by that, Derzo began to plan their escape. He learned the arts of the thief on the streets, learning to sneak past the ravenous undead, and to steal what he needed. He also raided his old master's home and learned quite a bit about some kinds of magic. Planning with his sister one night, they were overheard by one of the inn's patrons. Having informed her owner of the planned escape, Derzo knew the time was at hand to make their exit. Quickly and silently they snuck through a second-floor window and using a fly spell that he found on a scroll, they floated to the ground outside, and ran as though their lives depended on it, which of course, it did. Several weeks later, they found themselves high in the Ash Mountains. Signs of giants were all around, and the occasional roar of a dragon could be heard in the distance. Falling down in a small glade, exhausted and numb with cold, Derzo began mentally praying for help, the first time he went to an outside force. Having fallen asleep, or so he thought, he had a strange dream. He was in a small cottage. Cats were everywhere underfoot, and in a rocking chair was a young, no an old, no a middle-aged woman. Her eyes were haunted and kept changing colors, and when he tried to get a closer look at her, she seemd to shift and morph into something just so slightly different. She beckoned him forward, and whispered in a surprisingly clear voice, "I will help you young thief, though my power isn't what it once was. Take heed, for I will require much of you, or perhaps nothing." She then shooed him away absently, and he found himself awake lying on a rug in a building, his sister asleep several feet away. Looking around, he noticed an elf standing in the corner gently banging his head against the wall. On his neck was the simbol for the goddess Vember. Facing the wall, the elf spoke in a singsong voice. "Two children brought from death's cold embrace, who's fate yet they have to face. One, good fortune she has in store, the other adventure forever more. Who's to say there will be no pain, for aren't we all, just plain... insane? ----------------------------------------------------------------- Level Mage: 0 Cler: 5 Thie: 0 Warr: 0 Necr: 0 Drui: 10 Total levels in all classes: 15 Clan: havoc Rank: third rank initiate Level Feats Performed --------------------------------- Level Deeds Accomplished --------------------------------- 3 Freed the graveyard from the Vampiress 2 Brought the sunlight staff back to the encampment. 2 Found some peppergrass leaves. 2 Brought food for the hibernating bear. 0 Defeated the Carver Shaman in mortal combat! 0 Discovered an ambush party!
