The village of Huixtocihuatl sits on the northwestern edge of the salt
flats. It marks the eastern border of the Aztec Empire.

In times of yore, it was home to a temple of the false god Tlaloc. His
sister, Huixtocihuatl, would come to the village of her namesake to receive
homage and sacrifices from the Aztecs. After Tlaloc's death and
Huixtocihuatl's defeat, the temple is now abandoned, and its treasures left
unplundered.
