Rules Section 11 - Player Accounts

Rule 11.1  - Informational

Accounts were intended to be an easy way for players to keep track of
their characters, gold, credits, and other resources.  Accounts are
limited to one and only one account per RL person, with contact
information in the account to allow for verified password resets and
other account maintenance.

Because accounts are limited to one per person, you can add all of
your characters to it to keep track of them.  Most of the time, your
characters will be added automatically, but sometimes you'll have to
do it by hand.

You can also add many email addresses to your account, not just a
primary and secondary.  This helps ensure that the loss of any single
email address doesn't mean the loss of your account.

Rule 11.2  - One person, one account

Please only create one account.  You can add all your characters to it,
and you can add multiple email addresses as backups.  Do not create an
account for every email address and character you have.

If you accidentally created multiple accounts, please let Dentin know
and he'll merge them together - it's not a big deal.

If you intentionally create multiple accounts for any reason, your
accounts will probably be merged for you as soon as your ownership is
discovered.  Persistent, intentional offenders may be subject to
penalties, especially if the account creation is done with intent to
avoid character or equipment transfer fees.

Rule 11.3  - Try to stay below a hundred characters

We don't really have a hard cap on number of characters in an account,
but we'd appreciate it if you try to keep your number of characters to
less than a hundred.  If they're real characters you actually play or
use as storage, that's fine.

Remember that characters you don't use will eventually time out, and it's
fine to have characters that you don't use that you're waiting to be
deleted.  If you log them in for any reason, it resets the delete timer.

Some uses of having a lot of characters are unacceptable.  For example,
if you're just creating characters just to name squat and sell them later,
we'll just delete your account.  That's not cool, and will be treated
similarly to griefing other players.

Rule 11.4  - Informational - character and account sales

Character sales are allowed, and can be done automatically using the
'set chartransfer' and 'credit buy chartransfer' commands.  You must
use these commands to transfer a character to another player.

Account sales are allowed, but are only processed manually by Dentin.

Note that both character and account transfers cost credits.  You must
have the credits available before the transfer can take place.
