Less than a piece of equipment and more of an artifact, the enthralled imps
are neither and more as the bond they make is sometimes stronger. When unused
the shades are trying to find a way to return to their own evil plane, but
for now they are trapped here on the prime material. They will find a way by
any means, even subjecting themselves as familiars to the most powerful of
wizards in the hopes that they will be returned. How long they have been
spellbound is a mystery for speaking to them of it seems to incite a certain
vacillation and hesitance to cooperate.  

Your interest has intrigued them, and as a group they are drawn to hover
close to your head. One at your ear speaks to you, 'We will serve you' while
another at your other ear whispers, 'we will be afforded power.' While this
is being said another is before your eyes staring back at you as the rest
gyrate about your body.
