Item description:

This fauld is made of four iron plates hung from a wide black leather belt. 
The fauld would be worn such that the longest and most elaborately painted
plate would hang in front--hence two would protect each hip and the final
would hang down in the rear.  The gold colored paintings depicts abstract
swirling patterns around the edge of each plate.  The belt sports similar
decoration, most notably a wheel with eight points next to the buckle.
