This leather-bound book has seen better days. The cover is torn and
long-dried blood is splattered all over it. Most of the pages are blank. It
appears to have been used as a journal. You read the last entry:

"It's been three days since I took up residence here. I managed to get a
portion of my wardrobe moved into the mine's old supply depot. I barely
managed to carry my mother's cedar chest in. I will have to hire a porter
for the rest of my gear when the time comes.

"The old elevator on the west end of the mine is still stuck at the upper
level. I could not figure out how to get it to go down. I suppose I will
have to dig my own escape route.

"Speaking of which - I believe I finally discovered where the zombies are
hiding! I managed to pry loose one of the larger stones blocking the
collapsed tunnel on the south side of the mine. I was rewarded with a
chorus of moans from the other side! With a bit of effort, I should be able
to get the tunnel clear. With the spells I learned from Grimmath, it will
be a simple matter to take control of a handful of undead."
