They contain page after page of drawing, painstakingly scribed stories (with
commentary in the margins,) and descriptions of many a strange magical
artifact.

Several of the books appear to be archives of some ancient language that
looks vaguely familiar, but is foreign to you.  The only thing that stands
out are visible references to Xenae, which sounds an awful lot like Kenai to
you. Apparently the writer of these books thought similarly, as there are
many notes to that effect, attempting to translate the copied runes.
