The witches of Karmekios were originally refugees from the East, having
fled from the Dunn Hurr after the Rivening of Dunnhurst. They wandered for
many years, passing through Ralnoth, before taking refugee in a new
settlement on Mount Zendular.

They brought many of their traditions with them. They started an Arcane
College after the manner of the Dunnlanders. They studied alchemy, and
learned to use the new strange herbs they found to brew potions of all hues
and purposes. 

Many of them were of Takari descent, and they were gifted with the Evil
Eye. Rather than shunning the gift, they embraced it. All the women of
Karmekios are trained to use the Eye, and thus they are all witches after
the tradition of Takar. There are also many witchborn men that have arisen
from Karmekios over the years, becoming mighty champions and protectors
against the ShadowStrike Clan's raids.
