At first glance it looks like a coin, but it's a fake.  Turns out it's just
dross that has been hammered flat and shaped to look like a coin. The
small disc of iron is a larger and quite a bit thicker than a standard gold
coin. Its edges are rough and it is covered with a fine patina of rust.
