This lightly crumpled piece of parchment bears several sticky stains from
spilled syrup. Some of the text is smudged, but most the letter is legible:

" . . . time in Khal-Uktar was short, I was . . . such kindness by the
dwarven people that I . . . forget. I am forever grateful to you for saving
me from . . . of those thuggish water sprites. I'm bound east now. I've
heard . . . where I can learn . . . complete my project . . . that dreadful
prison. I have included a sample . . . you enjoy it!"

The signature is smudged beyond recognition, but the postmark is plainly
visible - an undulating black serpent with a gaping fanged mouth.
