This shield is very old and obviously well used. The entire surface
of the shield is blackened as if it was thrown in a fire or has been
used in battle against a fire breathing or fire casting enemy. This
fire does not seem to have weakened the shield in any way, actually
it looks as if it has added to its overall strength.
