These unusual boots are much more stiff than normal leather boots, and
are heavily reinforced around the ankle and lower part of the leg. 
Used for walking in swampy areas containing gators and ground snakes,
the extra layers of protection fend off venomous and otherwise
crippling bites from the native wildlife.
