This is a pile of greenish brown stones.  At first they do not seem very
remarkable, but as you examine them more closely, you notice that they seem
to give off glints in the light at certain angles, and each has a tear-drop
shaped flaw.  These must be earth tears, a fabulously rare stone said to be
prized by the fey folk.
