A jagged chunk of black rock that has a glassy shine to it. Even unworked
it is easy to see why it is commonly used for creating objects that are
intended to be highly decorative, such as ceremonial weapons or jewellery.
This particular type of obsidian has a soft golden sheen to it which is
caused by trapped gas bubbles within its composition that were present when
the rock formed from a cooling lava flow.
