    Others:  Conan turns his thumb down staring at Sonja and dooming her to a terrible fate.
    Target:  Conan gives you thumbs down!

When targeting someone else who isn't there:
    Self:    Thumbs down indeed, they're not even here.

When targeting an object:
    Self:    Thumbs down, this a mud school diploma isn't worth its weight in copper.
    Others:  Conan glares at a mud school diploma and turns his thumb down.
