In days past, the Aztecs were enslaved by a pantheon of false deities.
These giants demanded blood sacrifices from their terrified subjects, in
exchange for boons real and imagined. In truth, they used the power amassed
from the sacrifices to extend their lives far beyond their normal span.

One of these pretend gods, Tlaloc, made his abode in a radiant white
ziggurat on the elemental plane of water. He was slain in single combat by
Don Milano, who was infuriated at the blasphemous child sacrifices made to
the imposter.

The ziggurat still stands at the center of the Dome Sea: the Temple of Sand
and Water.
