The Aztec Jungle

Between the Great Desert and the imperial city lies a deep and
mysterious jungle.  It runs south from the foothills of the Ash Mountains to
the edge of the Southern Ocean.  The moist tropical air, carried in by
ocean breezes, provides frequent rainfall, making the otherwise poor soil
blossom.  Many strange animals and plants are found here and nowhere else.
Three hostile factions vie for control of the jungle and its resources.
Aztecs patrol the paths, searching for game and intruders.  Don Milano's
forces slash and burn the jungle's edges, clearing fields for crops to
support their growing numbers.  And the soldiers of Kookien the Monkey King
press deeper and deeper into the jungle, challenging their neighbors on all
fronts.
        The riches to be found there are great.  Half-buried beneath
creepers and vines are the ruins of an older and wiser civilization, long
since died out.  Some of their treasures are still to be found in their
tombs and secret places.  Rumors have filtered in about undead mummies
roaming some sections of the jungle by night, and sightings of ghosts are
not uncommon...
