Avalon Hill is best described as a very wide mound. Its slope is gradual,
and it reaches about 2 kilometers in height at its highest point. It is
largely believed to have be artificially created, though it is not known
how. It is almost perfectly round, being about 150 kilometers in diameter.
Avalon Hill is mostly covered with deciduous trees and flora, known as the
Broceliande Forest, though large areas have been cleared away by its
inhabitants to make room for settlements and farms. Avalon Hill is
bordered on the east by the Cornian Valley, on the north by the Fields of
Florin, on the west by the Ciernan River, and on the south by the Southern
Ocean.

Avalon Hill is the center, both politically and geographically, of the
Kingdom of Avalon, a human nation founded by one King Arthur several
centuries ago. A city (named Avalon) once dominated the whole of the hill,
but it was destroyed about a hundred years ago by an massive earthquake.
The city was not rebuilt, but the city's keep, Castle Avalon, was. Today,
Avalon Hill (simply called "the Hill" by some) remains heavily populated,
but not densely, as many Avalonians prefer to dwell in single-family
farmsteads instead of in communities. Some small towns and villages do
exist, namely Corinium, Land's End, Orton, Staffordshire and
Stoke-on-the-Mound. Other places of importance include Castle Camelot,
Castle Perilous, and the Cathedral of Elements.
