The desolation of U'ras

The southern portion of the Rud'Jali Desert is very different
from the sandy, windswept dunes of the north. Great buttes and
mesas of sandstone jut from the craggy, canyon-riddled lands 
south of the Kings' Highway. The air is parched, seeming to draw 
the moisture from the very pores. The soil itself is drained of 
all fertility -- a cursed land, wasted and diseased beyond all 
healing. This is the Desolation of U'ras. Once roamed by the most
feared of all murlocks, this abyssal desert bears the scars of their
abominal practices. Sandstone megaliths stand as monuments of 
long-forgotten victories. Heaps of cracked skulls mark the sites 
of ancient slaughter and feasts.

Only the most foolhardy or bravest of bandits dare make camp in
the Desolation. The whole region is feared not only in memory
of the now cowed U'ra, but also for the rumors of a new terror.
In times of yore the U'ra fought a massive campaign against
the U'lugl beneath the shadow of Eagle's Claw, an ancient U'ra
standing stone overlooking Hennepin Canyon. The rumors claim
that after the sun sets, the Canyon fills with preternatural
gloom. The air grows chill, stones bleed, and the heaped,
bleached bones of murlock warriors reassemble themselves to
relive the  battle that claimed their lives centuries ago. It
is said that even those that travel the region by day are
plagued by strange visions, dreams and apparations.
