Subject: general skill trees
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I like the idea of general skill trees a lot. HOwever, I think it might be better
to wait until we see what druid reorganization does to older classes before we implemented
these. A terrains tree that captures swimming/climbing/spelunking etc would be nice.
Similarly a survival tree that included fishing/foraging/cooking/butchering/skinning
would be good.
I'm somewhat more skeptical of some of your other propositions. I see your argument
with the cleric and mage trees not clearly fitting into those classes, but making
them general skills doesn't feel right to me either. Same for the thief antidote
skills and the warrior unarmed combat skills.
Perhaps the easiest way to fix the thief/mage/brew issue would be to strip all the
brewing skills out and make a general alchemicals tree that combined the poisons
tree from thief with the potions tree from mage and corpse cutter from necro as well
as antidotes. Perhaps make forage more likely to find herbs or something that would
brew more reliably, and make butchering perhaps redner other items different from
corpse cutter but also useful such as rendered fat, a bit of sinew, fur, animal brains,
or the
like. If enchant armor and enchant weapon were made processes that required certain
comps to complete, then they could be fitted into an alchemicals tree as well.
