Rust is a common issue, especially with ferrous metals, but fairly simple
alchemical techniques that are employed by all but the most primitive of
tribes minimize its harm. Like eating and bathing, simple, routine
cleaning is usually enough to keep armor and weapons free from rust.

There are, however, certain magical effects that can temporarily rust
and weaken armor and weapons. Such magical rust can be dispelled, or
even blocked entirely by protective magic such as crystal coat.
