A few damage types occur in more than one category: Blunt - pound, crush, bash, stomp, bite, kick, beak, punch, slap, buffet, grapple, tail, flail, blast - extra damage vs. Skeletal, Mechanical and Crystalline creatures - less damage vs. Blobs and Plants - can cripple opponents Edged - slice, slash, hack, chop, claw, whip, beak, beam - extra damage vs. Blob, Amphibian, Invertebrate and Plant creatures - less damage vs. Skeletal, Insect, Mechanical and Crystalline creatures - can cause bleeding and cripple opponents Pointed - pierce, stab, sting, gore, bite, claw - extra damage vs. Fish and Insect creatures - less damage vs. Skeletal and Plant creatures - can cause bleeding Nonsolid - blast, zap, spit, splat, beam - cannot be parried, but can be blocked with shields In addition, certain damage types have special traits that affect how they interact with different skills and creature types: Flexible - whip, flail, tail, grapple - the striking surface of the weapon bends or is at the end of a bendable part - more easily disarm opponents - slightly harder to dodge - reduced damage with most warrior power attacks such as lunge and leap attack - cannot be shield blocked - extra damage vs. Animals - less damage vs. Plants and Mechanical creatures Impact - stomp, bash, chop, hack, pound, crush, gore - weight of the weapon is concentrated near the striking surface - weapon is somewhat more easily disarmed - slightly easier to dodge - used for attacks like sunder or ground strike - more difficult to use for some thief skills such as feint and flourish Bladed - slash, slice, pierce, stab, hack, chop, claw - the weapon has a defined blade - slightly more effective at parrying - works with certain weapon techniques and spell enhancements See also: 'help special damage'
