Usage:
cast mana shield [up/down]

This spell surrounds you in a weak bubble of force that can absorb damage
and help protect you, but each hit weakens the shield and requires extra
mana to keep the shield up.  If you run out of mana, the shield will be
so thin that it can't protect you anymore.

The shield normally lasts a long time, but you can take the spell down
by recasting it with the 'down' keyword.

The effectiveness of the shield is based strictly on your mage level.
