Members of the Smiths Guild learn how to process raw ore into metal, which
can then be made into metal jewelry, armor, weapons and various other
items, along with a few supplementary skills that augment crafted items.
Smiths must do most of their work in forges, as smelting ores and working
with metals requires extreme heat that can only be safely achieved in
specially prepared furnaces.

Metals can be worked into nearly any type of armor, weapon or item, from
shields to necklaces to goblets to a wide variety of upgrades that can be
used to augment other crafted items. Stats are precise and varied. Forging
can be cost intensive, however, and smiths will either need to acquire
their own stocks of metal either from mining and smelting ore, raiding
treasures, scrapping equipment or purchasing it at shops.

Smiths advance within their guild by creating mastercraft forged items
and completing jobs for the guild. As they advance in rank, Smiths gain
discounts on forging costs.

Many classes can gain additional benefits from joining the Smiths Guild.
Druids that know rune carving can learn 'forge rune'. Necromancers that know
corpsecutter can learn 'graft undead'. Thieves that know salvage equipment
can learn 'scrap equipment'. Warriors that know weapon handling skills such
as riposte can learn 'customize weapon'. Mages that that know fire focus,
ice fogus or lightning focus can learn 'enchant fire', 'enchant ice'
and 'enchant lightning', respectively.
