The following is a list of the categories of creatures you may find in Alter Aeon.
Creatures may be any combination of these types. Any special qualities, resistances
and vulnerabilities they have are listed in the entry. Any given creature may have
additional resistances or vulnerabilities to elemental damage, spells, poisons or
normal damage. Use the 'consider' command to assess a foe's defenses.

Note: creatures immune to poison may still be affected by magic poison.

Basic Creature Types:

Angel        -  special:    does extra damage to evil creatures
                vulnerable: censure demon

Animal       -  special:    can be skinned and butchered when killed
                vulnerable: flexible weapons (whips, flails)
                            druid animal handling skills

Blob         -  immunities: unbalancing
                resists:    pound and other blunt weapons
                vulnerable: slash and other edged weapons

Demon        -  resists:    damage from good-aligned creatures
                vulnerable: censure demon

Elemental    -  immunities: bleeding, hypothermia, poison, possession, stun
                vulnerable: dispel magic

Ethereal     -  immunities: bleeding, hypothermia, poison, possession, stun
                            most physical attacks
                vulnerable: spectral ward, spectral claw

Shadow       -  immunities: shadow binding
                resists:    normal, nonorm damage, shadow strike
                vulnerable: full damage from magic and elemental attacks
                            extra damage from light-based attacks

Fish         -  special:    natural waterbreathing
                vulnerable: stab and other pointed weapons (minor)

Amphibean    -  special:    natural waterbreathing
                vulnerable: slice and other edged weapons  (minor)

Fowl         -  special:    natural flight (usually)
                vulnerable: ranged attacks

Humanoid     -  no special attributes

Insect       -  resists:    poison (usually)
                            slice and other edged weapons (minor)
                vulnerable: insecticide poison
                            pound and other blunt weapons  (minor)
                            
Invertebrate -  vulnerable: insecticide poison
                            slice and other edged weapons  (minor)

Magical      -  immunities: bleeding, hypothermia, poison, possession, stun
                vulnerable: dispel magic

Mechanical   -  immunities: bleeding, hypothermia, poison, possession, stun
                resists:    flexible weapons (whips, flails), slash and
                            other edged weapons, nonorm damage
                vulnerable: pound and other blunt weapons

Plant        -  resists:    flexible weapons (whips, flails)
                            stab and other pointed weapons
                vulnerable: slash and other edged weapons
                            herbicide poison

Reptilian    -  resists:    breath damage (usually)
                            slice and other pointed weapons (minor)
                vulnerable: dragonbane poison
                            dragon lore skills (if large enough)

Skeletal     -  resists:    slash and other edged weapons
                            stab and other pointed weapons
                vulnerable: pound and other blunt weapons

Undead       -  immunities: bleeding, hypothermia, poison, possession, stun
                vulnerable: cleric undead handling skills
                            necromancer undead handling skills

Elemental Creature Types:

Acid         -  immunities: acid damage

Air          -  special:    healed by breath damage

Crystalline  -  resists:    slash and other edged weapons
                vulnerable: pound and other blunt weapons

Earth        -  resists:    lightning damage
                            slash and other edged weapons (minor)
                vulnerable: pound and other blunt weapons (minor)
                            'earthquake' spell

Electrical   -  special:    healed by lightning damage

Fire         -  immunities: hypothermia, burning
                special:    healed by fire damage

Ice          -  immunities: hypothermia
                special:    healed by cold damage

Water        -  immunities: burning
                resists:    slash and other blunt weapons (minor)
                vulnerable: pound and other edged weapons (minor)
                special:    healed by 'create water' spell
