Flay animental comes into play when you skin the corpses of animals with
strong elemental affinities. These are most often animentals, but other
types of creatures, from demonic and angelic beasts to fairy creatures
may also qualify.

When skinning a non-shelled, non-draconic creature that has the fire,
ice, electrical or crystalline types, the hide has a strong chance to
have elemental absorption effects, in addition to normal leather effects.

These elemental effects can be removed by scraping the hide, if desired.
