The 'fist of the earth' is a low level, earth based druid spell
commonly used in combat.  The spell rips two large chunks out of
the ground on either side of the target, and throws them at the
target, smashing anything that is between them.  The spell is so
named because the massive earthen blobs look vaguely like fists.
