Title: the Book of the Legends of Zendular
The greatest legend of Zendular is Tragen, chieftain of the Shadowstrike
orcs. It is said he summoned an avatar of Ornias, demonlord of destruction,
to dig the foundations for his fortress, Castle Umbra and lay magical wards
to seal it shut. He carried glass wand that allowed him passage through the
wards.
His greatest act of audacity was to prepare an assault on the Temple of
Leah in the midst of Lake Zendular. His raiders were repulsed and his
vessel was lost, but he managed to swim ashore with his life. It is said he
lost his wand in the belly of the lake creature that sank the boat. His
forces unable to return to Castle Umbra, they were waylaid before its gates
by the Morlocks, the lost dwarves of Khal-Moria. There, they waged a great
battle for many hours.
The clerics of Leah were displeased with Tragen's treachery, and they smote
the combatants with curses and heavenly flamestrikes. His castle lost to
him and his forces scattered, he fled to the crypts south of Karmekios and
was not again seen for many years. He allied himself with the Rubicon
Principality, and brought back an army to assault Karmekios. But then the
Chaos Rift was opened, and Rubicon fell. Without support, Karmekios
prevailed, and Tragen fell.
To this day, the gates of Castle Umbra cannot be penetrated, and none know
what lies within.
Of the dwarves, their great Captain Mindlar was killed, and none of his
people were seen on Mount Zendular again, save in whispers and rumors.
