Title: a book titled 'Hazel the Witch'

Long ago, there was a war between the Morlocks, dwarven expatriates driven
from Moria, and the ShadowStrike Clan, an orcish cult of Ornias, led by the
dreadful warrior Tragen. They fought on the fields and slopes around Mount
Zendular.
During this war many had died, orcs and dwarves and humans caught between
them. One of these victims was a young apprentice witch of great promise.
She was a student of Hazel of Karmekios, a mighty witch whose gift of the
Evil Eye was a legend in itself. A great sorrow took her after, but it soon
smoldered and blazed into wrath, as those with the Evil Eye are wont. She
demanded revenge for her loss, but the priests of Leah and her superiors in
the Arcane College forbade her and ordered that she stand down, lest they
be drawn into the conflict.
But Hazel's love for her student was like the love for a child, and the
grief of her loss waxed sore within her heart. Bitter that she could not
exact revenge and broken-hearted for the loss of one that was like a
daughter unto her, she took her cauldron and few belongings and left
Karmekios for parts unknown.
