MORTAL REALM

Lord Tezcatlipoca - deity of night, magic, beauty, strife and discord,
patron of the ruling class. He was known to be benevolent and refused blood
sacrifices. Alone of all the pretender gods, he still dwells among the
Aztecs, though in a diminished role.

Lady Tlazolteotl - goddess of filth and purification, patron of adulterers.
She was slain in her dwelling in the Aztec capitol soon after the death of
Tlaloc.

Cipactli - a powerful crocodillian monster that Tezctlipoca defeated, at
the cost of one of his feet. Cipactli is commonly identified with the
fallen god Magar.

Xiuhtecuhtli - a fire god thought to dwell in Mount Sartus, patron of the
Aztec Emperors. He was slain by the Aztecs while attempting to flee into
the Swamps of Sorrow. His wife was Chalchiuhtlicue.

Chantico - goddess of the hearth fire and volcanoes, patron of wealth and
precious things. She was a servant of Xiuihtecuhtli that went into hiding
after the Aztecs slew her master.

Xipe Totec - god of vegetation, rebirth and spring, patron of goldsmiths
and silversmiths. He dwelled in the Swamps of Sorrow. He was worshipped in
a celebration that involved elaborate games and gladitorial sacrifices. He
was slain by the Aztecs, crushed beneath a statue built in his likeness.

Chicomecoatl - the Aztec goddess of maize and agriculture, patron of
farmers. Every year a young girl was annointed as her sacrifice,
decapitated and flayed. The high priest then wore the girl's skin. She was
slain by the Aztecs during their rebellion.

CHICOMOZTOC, PLANE OF EARTH

Lord Huitzilopochtli - god of the sun, fire and war. Most famous for
demanding the extraction and immolation of the hearts from his still-living
sacrificial victims.

Quetzalcoatl - patron of the Dawn Star, a feathered serpent of unknown
origin, possibly some variety of amphitere.

Xiuhcoatl - a minor fire deity, possibly a hybird amphitere, a flying fiery
serpent. The personal pet and living weapon of Huitzilopochtli.

Paynal the Herald - an angel of flame, serves as a messenger for
Huitzilopochtli.

Chalchiuhtotolin - described as a deity of pestillence, his true nature is
unknown. It is said he helped the Aztecs domesticate turkeys, and was
well-received because his offerings consisted only of spoiled grain and
rotten meat instead of living sacrifices. The few that have encountered him
died of disease soon after, and their descriptions of him as a giant green
turkey may simply be fever-fueled delusions.

Lady Coatlicue - an earth-mother figure, the mother of Huitzilopochtli. She
was slain in the Aztec rebellion but her corpse was revived as a powerful
undead construct.

TLALOCAN, PLANE OF WATER

Lord Tlaloc - god of rain and storms, patron of lepers, the drowned and
those slain by lightning. Don Milano, horrified at the sight of weeping
children being sacrificed to Tlaloc, pursued the deity to the Dome Sea and
slew him. This act instigated the Aztecs to rebel against their gods.

Huixtocihuatl - goddess of fertility, salt and salt water, sister of
Tlaloc. She was transformed into a pillar of salt in the village that bears
her name by Draak of the High Pantheon of Dentin.

Xochiquetzal - goddess of flowers, dance, music, weaving and female power,
patron of pregnant women and new mothers. She was slain with her husband,
Tlaloc.

Chalchiutlicue - goddess of water and fertility, patron of children. Though
she dwelt in Tlalocan, she was the wife of Xiuhtecuhtli. She may have acted
as an intermediary between the Tlaloc and her husband. She was slain in a
botched attempt to avenge the death of Xiuhtecuhtli.

MICTLAN, THE PLANE OF ELEMENTAL DARKNESS

Lord Mictlantecuhtli - lich-god of the underworld and patron of the dead.
Possibly the most powerful of the pretender gods, and most devious.

Lady Mictecacihuatl - Mictlantecuhtli's undead companion, goddess of bones.

Lady Cihuacoatl - sometimes confused with Coatlicue, this death goddess is
the patron of women that died in childbirth.

Xolotl - a god of lightning and death, patron of the Evening Star. Has a
dog-like face and backwards-pointing feet. Believed to guide the dead
through the underworld. Possibly an undead construct of Mictlantecuhtli.

Atlacoya - goddess of drought. She was sent as a scout by Mictlantecuhtli
when the Aztecs began their rebellion. She was slain and her body burnt to
prevent her return as an undead creature.

Lady Itzpapalotl - the obsidian butterfly, goddess of the star demons of
the night, she is said to dwell in the darkness beyond the stars. Her
offspring are the tzitzimitl, night demons that prey upon the unwary.
Itzpapalotl is believed to be a garbled account of the undead sometimes
encountered in the Ash Desert, mixed with legendary accounts of Skyfall.
