Title: a book entitled, 'Compendium of Useful Flora of the Elwood'

Compendium of Useful Flora of the Elwood

penned by the Peerless Lady Nora of the Elwood

KNIGHT COMMANDER OF THE ORDER OF THE NYMPH
PALADIN OF DOWART
PATRONESS OF RITTERHOLM
AFFILIATE OF THE CONSORTIUM
DEFENDER OF THE RITTERMARK

copied under the direction of Her Ladyship by Sir Flygee Leafeater

This is a compendium of common flora unique to the Elwood which produce
components suitable for brewing, arranged in alphabetical order:

ACACIA: The Elwood acacia is a medium deciduous tree. The seed pods
thereof are dense and oval-shaped, and the dark brown pods are covered with
tiny spines. Each is about the size of a pinky finger.

ALGUM: The algum is a species of evergreen tree. The branches have
needle-like leaves and are covered with bluish-green seed cones that, at
first glance, resemble blueberries.

BELLADONNA: Belladonna is a small shrub with large, light green oval-shaped
leaves about a meter and a half tall. It has small purple flowers with
green edges and shiny black berries. While belladonna is a useful herb for
topical salves, it is deadly poisonous when ingested.

BLACK OAK: The black oak is a variant species of oak similar to the white
oak. They produce nuts that look like those of the white oak. These
acorns are oval shaped and are capped with domed-shaped cupules. Instead
of being brown colored, however, they are pure black.

GOPHERWOOD: Also known as a yellowwood, this is a small deciduous tree.
It produces a useful resin. This resin is a thick, gel-like substance
secreted from the bark. It is a yellow-brown in color. Gopherwood trees
are reed-like and have paper-thin bark. They can be used to enhance
fire-type brews.

SPIDER LILIES: The variety of lily known as the spider lily has curved thin
petals. They are a light pink color and have a faint, bitter odor.

WHISTLING THORNBUSHES: These are nettles covered in slightly curved, sharp
whitish-green thorns with swollen bases. These bases of the thorns are
hollow, and the several perforations in the fleshy skin of the thorns'
bases allow air to flow freely through them, producing a distinct whistling
sound when held aloft in a strong breeze.

WORMWOOD: This is a short woody shrub. The rhizomes thereof are useful for
spell components. These are the woody, underground stems and roots of the
wormwood bush. They are thick and have a hard silvery-green bark.
