Title: a book titled "The Bones of the Earth"
Compiled by Luse Jinshu the Imperial Smith
Legend says if you dig deep enough, you will find the bones of the earth.
These are supposedly a great framework of metal upon which the foundations
of Alter Aeon's continents and the basins that hold the oceans rest. Some
have linked this framework with the concept of leylines and the so-called
"Global Grid", where the frames are conductive to magic so that great
currents of mana flow along them. These currents are supposed to connect
the various beacon stones scattered across the world. The metal from which
these bones are forged is said to be dark, dense and exceedingly strong.
Undoubtedly the source of these stories is the metal adamantium. Also known
as scrith, this metal is heavy, dark and exceedingly hard. However, in its
pure state, it is brittle, making it unsuitable for forging blades.
Fortunately it readily combines with iron and many other metals, producing
more resilient alloys that can be worked into fine, sturdy blades.
Adamantium is known from several great lodes. There are small deposits
found on the Westering Isles, but these are remnants of veins long
mined-out by the giants that used to live there. Wolverite, a low-grade ore
of the metal, has been recovered in modest amounts amid the iron ore from
the Mines of Minos, north of West Naginag.
The largest veins are known from the Stone Giant stronghold in the Ash
Mountains on Atmir, and the volcanic mountain in which the Ryuu Rookery
occupies in Suboria. Both produce large quantities of ore, though the
Suborian product, loganite, is richer than the titanium ore from the Ash
Mountains.
