Title: a mud-stained journal

This journal is written in a sloppy cursive. The pages are stained with
dried mud. It contains many long rants about revenge against Chaos and the
retaking of Castle Rubicon. It also contains detailed plans about several
plots to gather or create an army.

One of the plans involves using mutated blackspore to infest warm-blooded
animals and humanoids. Those infected would be transformed into
plant-animal hybrids that could be controlled by allied fairy creatures with
a strong affinity for plants.

Another plot describes the use of alteration magic to enlarge and
strengthen colonial insects, such as bees, termites or ants. The insects
could them be harnessed as beasts of war by exploiting their colonial
behaviors, particularly by exposing them specially prepared scent triggers.

One of the more mundane plans involves taking control of local undead
creatures. The author indicates he has already captured several giant
skeletons from the nearby Celestial Circle.

One of the more ambitious plots involves opening a rift to the plane of
elemental darkness. Summoned demons and wraiths could be recruited as a
military force. The wraiths would also possess living creatures, turning
them into cannon fodder soldiers. The author explains at some length that
he has allies on the shadow plane that have already sent him a squad of
soldiers that they acquired "in the Deep". He also writes about an unnamed
gift they gave him that allows him to commune with his shadowy patrons.
