Title: a book entitled, "The Seven Silver Maces"

Long ago, the people of Q'thelas were hosts for seven divine beings: Luami,
angels from the worlds of light. They taught the Quelese people many arts.
The Quelese became cunning in the ways of divine warfare. They learned
elemental magic, golemcraft and even some forms of necromancy.

These seven angels became advisors to the Quelese kings. They became known
as the Seven Mages. Each of them bore a silver mace carried from the
celestial realms as an emblem of their divine nature. These maces were
known to change in nature even as their master changed in temperment.

In times of great need, they were loaned out to mighty heroes. The maces,
seperated from their masters, retained the last impression left upon them
before they left the Seven's hands. Sometimes, if the hero died with the
mace in hand, the Seven Mages would allow the hero to be buried with the
weapon.

Over the ages, each of the maces was lost. Most were honorably buried with
mighty heroes of Q'thelas's golden age, before the Great Wars destroyed
her. Others were captured when the hero that bore them fell. They may yet
remain in the treasuries of evil beasts as part of their hoards.
